Governor's Island
From Kevin's travel journal (June 2009):
We arrived late yesterday evening in Lupac (near Dugapan) and took the first hotel we found. It’s quite alright and has some good food and as we figured out 1 hour ago, also good massages. Today we wanted to head up for the islands but at the tourist information we received a big disappointment. Obviously it s not recommended to stay over night on one of the islands during the rainy season. So after some time we decided to go there on day trips. As you can guess it was not a problem to find a fisherman to take a tour with us. At that time it had been already raining from time to time but anyway...

Island Feeling?
The islands were great and after the first few km on the sea, island feeling finally got back to me. On one of the islands we decided to go snorkeling. Visibility was great and we saw some crazy coloured corals and fish. On Governors island I think we saw the Philippine Big Brother house. On Childrens Island and on some other islands we saw nippa huts and asked for the overnight price. 1800 Pesos (circa 27€) for a bamboo hut half opened with no real lights. The floor also had some holes and so did the walls. It might be quite an experience but not during bagyo time (typhoon) we thought. On another island our boat dude showed us some locations where some nippa huts got washed off the cliffs by bagyos in 2008...

After the rain
Later on heavy rain started again at the time we already had been on the sea. It was so heavy that we decided to turn around (what's the problem with Luzon and the rain?). Visibility was limited to 300m I think. It was hard to tell where the mainland was. At the hotel we took a hot shower and then we went to Jollibee (the Filipino style Mc Donalds). On our return trip on the boat that was all I was thinking of – Jollibee Burgers.
After dinner we talked about what to do next. It came to our minds that we could leave tomorrow for Pinatubo and then take a flight to Mt Mayon Vulcano. But we decided to postpone the decision for tomorrow and make it dependent on the weather.
Then – for the evening I came to the conclusion to introduce my rain pain-killer and new best friend Mr. Umbrella:

DeleteIt's the same year, I guess, when we went to Hundred Islands. It was summer though, no rain, but the waves were still crazy. ;p
